Why I became a
Rescue Angel: |
I have felt the pain of losing my child quickly after a vaccination and I spent two years doing research every day. I have never spent one minute not wanting to talk to other parents about how much there is that you can do for your child. I think I was given my special little boy so that I can help others find their way as well. |

| Strengths: |
I have more knowledge in speaking about nutrition. However, I am able to educate people of what I know about autism because of my experiences with my son. |
Why I became a
Rescue Angel: |
I currently live in a state where the House of Representatives wasn't remotely interested in discussing the terms of "Nick's Law" (May 2008) {Note: Oklahoma has a waiting list of over 4 years for state-provided services).
Although, I have a local autism advocacy and resource group, they do not offer monthly meetings or phone support by way of a hotline.
I believe that families living with autism need a place to go for assistance, information, AND a listening ear.
Being a SAHM, I know what it's like to not have anyone to talk to. I simply want to be there for whoever needs help. |
| Child's Symptoms: |
I hear "symptom", and I think illness. Sorry if I seem overly-sensitive, but I was recently told by a stranger that my son was possessed by an evil spirit and that's he was "ill". {sigh}
Anyhoo, my son's "deficits" are in social play (doesn't initiate play with folks he doesn't know) and conversational speech (although, he's wicked chatty). |
