How Common Is It To Have More Than One Child With Autism
Q: I was wondering how common it is to have more than one child affected by autism?
-Lina B.
Dr. Jerry's Answer:
Great question. I often see more than one child in the family having autism in my clinic. But more than often, I see children that follow the child with autism do NOT have autism. The difference? The parents choose not to vaccinate the subsequent children, where as in the families with more than one child with autism, the siblings received vaccines as well. I rarely see unvaccinated children with autism, but they are out there as well.

My son was just diagnosed last week with autism. He is 2 1/2. We never vaccinated either. And he does not go to a public daycare. He stays with Grandma. I too never got a flu shot & ate very well. I was 41 when he was born. I also have a 15 month old son who, so far, is developing 'normally'. He has not been vaccinated either.
He is high functioning & never saw a regression like most people do with their kids. We started cod liver oil, probiotics, etc.. when he was 3 months old which i do believe helped.Posted by Shannon Morris, 13/03/2012 11:00am (2 months ago)

I have a son who was diagnosed at 3 and an 8 month old daughter. My daughter is has had her vaccines up to now but so far is developing well. I want to stop her vaccines; can someone suggest an alternate vaccine schedule they used or should I just not vaccinate her. Also when should I resume vaccinations or should I just never vaccinate her.

My son has autism and has never received a vaccine. Not even the vitamin K shot in the hospital when he was born. I ate organic when I was pregnant & no alcohol & have have never had a flu shot or touched drugs. My daughter who is 14 months does not have autism. I also refused to vaccinate her.
