Autism Recovery – It's Real (Grant Family Updates)

Generation Rescue is proud to share updates from our thirteenth round of grant recipients:

“Our son is in such a better mood and is less anxious. This has made the day-to-day life of our entire family so much easier. We enjoy things that a family should do together now. We could never do that before.”
These words from one of our families from the most recent round of the Rescue Family Grant Program say so much.
We have just completed our 13th round of the program and are excited to have had these wonderful grant recipients begin the journey towards healing their children through biomedical treatment and improving the quality of life not only of their child but also, as in the testimonial above, for their entire family.
The little things that other families can take for granted in their day-to-day tasks are very appreciated in our community.
We wanted to introduce you to a few of our participants and the incredible progress that they have experienced following our 90-day Rescue Family Grant Program.

“Asaiy was diagnosed with severe autism and is nonverbal. Since he started the grant program, we can see amazing progress.  He started pointing to communicate his needs, he has better eye contact, he is sleeping better and his hyperactivity has decreased. My son started hugging me! We appreciate all the support from Generation Rescue. Without this grant, this progress in my son would have never happened.”
Raul and Maria, dad and mom to Asaiy, age 8
“We’ve noticed a number of positive changes with Henry. Yesterday he played “tag” at the park with other children — a big improvement, as he never plays with other kids! We have also observed more spontaneous language. He’s labeling things that he sees, or items he’s playing with. He’s four years old and was essentially nonverbal until a few months ago. Then he began to pick up words and repeat things that we asked him to. Before, he could only grasp at them. But in the last few weeks the language is spontaneous and unprompted. Hooray!”
Jill, mom to Henry, age 4
“My daughter has spent many years jumbled up in her thoughts and speech, and had an overall presence of heightened sensitivity to many things. We were pleased to know that we had received the grant through Generation Rescue, yet unsure of the end result to biomedical treatment. The program has made a difference in many ways and I am grateful support that the program has offered us. I began seeing results with her within the first week. Her thought process has become clearer and she has begun asking questions about word meanings/idioms. It is as if the veil has been lifted and a new understanding of things has emerged for her. Our visit with the DAN doctor has resulted in restful sleep at night after nine very long years. Along with his treatment, she is experiencing an overall calmer presence and demeanor. I can see a building of confidence as a direct result. She no longer becomes frustrated with her ability to process information. Her thoughts and speech are clearer and more connected. Her frustration level is almost nonexistent. I am grateful for the program and encouraged and hopeful of the results that we are seeing and she is feeling. Thank you for your support, Generation Rescue. You have made a difference in one little girl’s life.”
Annette, mom to Olivia, age 9

“So far, my five-year-old has really improved in his natural speech – a lot less echolalia, more back and forth answering of open-ended questions, and lots of singing too! My six-year-old that has severe apraxia and dysarthria has become clearer in his speech. He is coming up with some blow-me-away statements!”
Shannon, mom to Kieran and Finley, ages 5 and 6
“The Generation Rescue Grant Program has helped my son and my family more than words can say! Before we started biomedical treatment for my son, he was hyper all the time. He had a hard time paying attention, was delayed in his speech, and had exhibited aggressive behavior towards his family. Since starting the grant program he has become focused and can follow directions much better. His speech and context has improved. I never thought I would be so happy to hear my son shout “Shut it!” at my husband when he was correcting his bad behavior! His tantrums have decreased, which has made day-to-day living a lot more pleasant for all of us. I can’t wait to see what positive changes we have ahead of us yet!”
Jennifer, mom to Trip, age 3
