Digestive Enzymes: 3 Tips for Sending Your Kids Back to School

By Kristin Selby Gonzalez

Tip 1: If you want to send your child to school with digestive enzymes we recommend talking to your child’s school nurse to see what the policy is. The standard we have heard from families across the country is that either an unopened bottle be sent with instructions from the parents or a doctor’s note just specifying how and when to take the digestive enzyme.

Tip 2: If sending digestive enzymes with your child to school is not feasible, we recommend making sure your child gets a nutritious breakfast along with a digestive enzyme first thing in the morning before school. Then a digestive enzyme with their after-school snack when they come home, followed by a digestive enzyme at dinner time. The goal is to have a digestive enzyme given with each meal but, sometimes it is not always possible.

Tip 3: For grazers who really seem to just snack throughout the day, pick 3 times where they seem to eat the most and give them their digestive enzymes at that time.
