Fundraising with Luxury Travel Will Fund Autism Treatment for Families Who Can’t Afford It
DENVER, April 25, 2012 – Generation Rescue, and Inspirato takes people to global locations far and wide to experience the magic of luxury vacations. The two organizations have joined together in a new partnership through Inspirato’s Inspired Giving new online giving platform, www.inspiredgiving.com. The partnership helps Generation Rescue – headed up by celebrity Jenny McCarthy – develop an additional source of year‐round revenue for its work. Generation Rescue provides guidance and support for medical treatment to directly improve the quality of life for children, adults and families affected by autism. April is National Autism Awareness Month.
Inspirato’s Inspired Giving was designed to help charitable organizations like Generation Rescue raise funds in a new way. Through this partnership, donors who contribute $2,000 through the Inspired Giving website to Generation Rescue’s cause gain select access to Inspirato’s club‐managed portfolio of vacation residences and unparalleled personal vacation services in locations ranging from California and Colorado to Hawaii and Mexico.
The Inspired Giving donation model benefits Generation Rescue in a number of ways:
- For every $2,000 donated to Generation Rescue through Inspirato’s Inspired Giving website, the donor gains one‐time access to an Inspirato luxury vacation – priced at up to 50 percent under market value, and bypassing the $15,000 Inspirato membership fee.
- Inspirato contributes one Inspired Giving vacation that Generation Rescue can auction to raise funds. Of those contributed monies, 100 percent goes back to Generation Rescue.
- For every new Inspirato membership that is generated from a Generation Rescue donor through Inspired Giving, the company gives $2,000 to Generation Rescue as an Inspirato Inspired Giving partner.
Generation Rescue will include an Inspired Giving trip at a live auction during the organization’s 5th Annual Rescue Our Angels benefit on May 24 in Chicago, Ill. Funds raised will directly support treatment for families in need.
“Autism treatment costs a family $70,000 a year on average. For many families, this is absolutely cost prohibitive,” said Candace McDonald, executive director of Generation Rescue. “Through our partnership with Inspirato, we hope to be able to fund at least five medical grants for families in need. This opportunity gives us access to a new demographic of potential donors who value high‐ end leisure travel with a cause.”
Generation Rescue’s goal is to help families with autism access resources in their community and nationwide, and offers education, support and treatment options to more than 25,000 families per year. It provides medical grants to support families who cannot afford treatment, operates a 24‐ hour hotline service, co‐hosts one of the largest autism conferences in the country to educate parents on treatment options, and trains doctors to treat patients with autism spectrum disorders.
Sandra and her five‐year‐old son, Amar, are among the thousands of families who benefit from Generation Rescue’s work – which includes funding biomedical treatment and guiding families on how to implement diet changes to address the root causes and symptoms of autism. Sandra said, “I can honestly say that after a few months on the Gluten Free Casein Free diet, suggested by Generation Rescue, I have seen my son improve. He is no longer talking to himself or talking into space, which is such a relief and a positive outcome. This grant is the best thing that has ever happened to our family.”
For Generation Rescue’s donors, the donation and vacation booking experience is simple: the donor is given access to Inspirato’s Inspired Giving exclusive web portal, www.inspiredgiving.com; selects Generation Rescue as the charitable organization of choice; and makes a tax‐deductible donation of $2,000. That donor is then able to book a vacation to a luxury Inspirato destination and enjoy all that Inspirato members enjoy, including: personalized service from an Inspirato vacation advisor, an on‐site destination concierge, and luxurious accommodations ranging from intimate, couples‐ only, one‐bedroom retreats to large, well‐appointed homes in excess of 3,000 square feet.
“Inspired Giving is committed to help build a better world through better vacations,” said Jackie Benton, the program’s executive director. “We are in the fortunate position of bringing an innovative fundraising opportunity to Generation Rescue and provide another avenue of revenue for its important programs.”
