With the wrap-up of our most recent participants in the Rescue Family grant program, we wanted to introduce you to a few of the families and their stories.  The latest study by the CDC reports that 1 in 50 school-aged children are affected by an autism spectrum disorder. The need to share resources, support and action in our community continues to grow. Generation Rescue’s Rescue Family grant provides a 90- day biomedical “jump start” to families in need.  Our families have shared their start towards helping their child and their dedication toward continued progress. We know that they will inspire you as well. ...

"I feel I already see a difference with my son and the diet. I am just amazed on how my son is going to the bathroom and the behaviors have decreased in a couple of days. I'm so excited for my boy. Reading that book that was sent with the package "Healing and Preventing Autism" by Jenny and Dr. Kartzinel is great. There is so much more than meets the eye when it comes to diet, vitamins, and how the body works. Amazing. I am just grateful that there are people who actually care about dealing and healing this terrible disorder, I am truly indebted."...

After only one month of trying biomedical treatment in your grant program, we have seen many positive changes in our son that we are so excited to share! Angel is much calmer than he was before and his hand flapping has almost disappeared. When we added the multivitamins to his supplement protocol his bowel movements became softer and much more regular. ...

“I just had to write to thank you and the entire Generation Rescue team for giving our four year old, Matthew, a chance to participate in your grant program. Even though we are only four weeks into the three-month agenda, Matthew is already showing amazing results! For years, he has had an alarming rash covering the back of his knees and his elbows. This was an angry mess of small red bumps that itched him terribly. None of his traditional doctors could make it go away. They tried creams and steroids and antihistamines. Nothing helped. Then, after two weeks of following the gluten-free/casein-free diet, it has completely disappeared....

Just recently, Fort Bend Focus Magazine covered a story featuring the drastic improvements made by one of our Rescue family grant recipients, Isaiah Rodriguez. We are so proud of Isaiah's progress since starting the diet and supplement interventions. It is great to see him continuing to improve while seeking further treatment at the Texana Children's Center for Autism. ...

“Tiffany looks healthier, is more alert, and I know she is feeling better because she is awesome about following the diet and taking her supplements. She’s trying new foods and as a picky eater that has never been easy. We will not stop trying and will continue to stay on the diet and adjust or add supplements to fit Tiffany’s needs. We are thankful to Generation Rescue for a starting point and a helping hand towards recovery, as we never would have tried this if it weren’t for the grant program. This holiday season has given us many more reasons to be grateful. We have a clear goal and won’t stop till we get there! ...

About a year ago I was having a really hard time with my 14 year-old son. Just last summer he was hitting his head so badly against the wall that I was afraid that he might crack it open. As a mother, there is nothing more frightening or painful to watch than your child physically hurting himself (or others). So I took him to see a doctor who suggested that I institutionalize my son rather than try to identify why he was self-injurious among other things. The doctor suggested that this was the best option to make sure that my daughter would have a normal home life before leaving to college....

“After the very helpful staff at Advanced Brain helped us set up our Listening Program account, we were finally able to sit down and start the program.I was so sure that the boys would not go for the headphones at all, especially Kai who is extremely sound sensitive. But, I was very happily surprised! My son Riley sat on my lap and listened for the full 15 minutes and never once fidgeted with the headphones, which he has never worn before. Then it was Kai's turn. Kai lasted the entire 15 min as well and did not want to take them off (it was his first time wearing headphones as well)....

Wow! We can see the changes in our son Collin James happening right in front of us! Physically, his hair is shinier, skin has more color, and the dark circles under his eyes have diminished. CJ’s posture is much better and he is actually starting to get some muscle tone. He doesn’t fall down nearly as much as he used to. His balance is so much better that simple tasks like walking up stairs and jumping up and down is no longer a challenge for him. We are amazed with the progress over the past couple months. It’s like his body is finally getting the nutrition it has been deprived of all this time....

"We are about two months into starting biomed for our son Dylan, with the help of Generation Rescue’s grant. I already feel that Dylan has made a lot of progress so far.  The most progress I have seen is in play skills. He used to be terrified of swings but now at the playground Dylan goes right up to them and requests to swing. His Occupational Therapist spent close to a year trying to get him on a swing and it just never happened. Dylan is a lot more aware of kids and people now. He actually goes up and attempts to play. He also has become very affectionate....

"Since starting the biomedical protocol I've noticed that my son Kyle sleeps a whole lot better, he actually wants to potty train now, and he is just about potty trained in as little as two weeks time. Klye is trying to communicate his wants and needs more, his speech is much more clear now than before starting the gluten-fee/casein-free diet, he is much more curious about things around him and he wants to interact more with others.Kyle is much more independent as well (with brushing his own teeth and other daily living skills), he is engaged for longer periods of time, and his gross motor skills have improved as well....

My name is Jillian and my son Anthony is 2. Anthony was diagnosed with autism on March 16, 2012.  YES, I remember the exact date. I started the GF/CF (gluten free/casein free) diet the day that I found out  we were accepted into the Rescue Family Grant Program, and have seen dramatic results. My son had a stimming behavior where he would clap and cross his eyes constantly, this behavior has disappeared! He also had a lot of repetitive behavior at the park, where he would go up the stairs and over the bridge turn around and go over the bridge and back down the stairs, about one week and a half after starting the diet he started to PLAY......

Generation Rescue saved my son's life and I want to share how. My son Toby had always suffered from illnesses such as ear infections, viral infections, yeast infections, and the list goes on. As an infant and through his first year he hit each of his milestones, saying ma-ma and da-da as he should and more. Around his first birthday, Toby received four vaccines I was told he should receive and that evening his body broke out in a huge rash. I took pictures and called his doctor immediately. The doctor told me if it was still there in the morning to come in for a visit....

My name is Tracy, and my son Aidan and I became part of the Generation Rescue Grant Program in January 2012.  Aidan is our poem, our puzzle, our heart, and none of us can take our eyes off him until autism gives back what it has taken from him. On the surface, we are a mom, a dad, and three amazing boys age 14, 5 (Aidan), and 3. Like many parents, we are trying frantically to keep some semblance of normalcy for our children while the economy and autism shred everything but love and hope.  We want to share our story with you, and that is terrifying for me, because I don’t know how the story ends yet.   So, instead......

"WOW…I started this post because I want to share some positive feedback from our home. We started the Rescue Family Grant in January and our 5 year old son Alex is doing so great. For the past 5 days straight Alex has gone without ANY aggression. This is compared to the 2-3 times a day bursts of aggression we were used to seeing.
Alex is now talking ALOT. Today he said "I don't know," and "oh, thats not right." He had his in home therapy today for 2 hours and both the therapist and supervisor (who are not yet aware of our new protocol) were shocked at his new behavior....

Liam, the boy who used to only want to eat crackers, tortilla chips, muffins & bread, ate an actual meal with us today! Quinoa pasta with olive oil & Daiya cheddar cheese, grilled peppers, onions, garlic, sausage and fresh tomatoes!! Then to top it off, he ate coconut raspberry yogurt for dessert with chia seeds. Liam helped pour the chia seeds in the yogurt and ate it enthusiastically! This is the most amazing thing to me! Before the diet change to GFCF, he would scream if we tried to get him to eat anything besides his 'crunchies' or smoothies. To eat mixed textures like this, and with a fork, is nothing short of amazing....

Dear Generation Rescue,This is Nicole, Isaiah’s Mom, we are from the Rescue Family Grant Round 5. I thought it was very important that I give an update on Isaiah’s progress so far. We had our DAN! Doctor’s visit yesterday and it went great. The doctor was so amazed and proud of the progress Isaiah has made. The doctor and I both agree we should let you know that you have saved a life and you guys are doing a wonderful thing in helping save these innocent children’s lives....

"I just have to share some amazing things that happened today with my daughter kylee. This week has been rough for her… She is getting used to all day school, the change in the diet and daddy has been traveling a lot with his work. As a result she has been having daily breakdowns. Today after one of her breakdowns was coming to an end and we were talking about what happened and why, I asked her if she understood what I was telling her, she said back to me 'I am listening to what you are saying but I don’t know that I understand' I don’t think I have to tell all of you how wonderful that was! We're proud to announce that the children in our Rescue Family Grant Program are doing extremely well! Here's a note from one of the mom's sharing her daughter Jacquelyn's progress to date: "I was curious how everyone is doing with the lollipops and other supplements? We are seeing steady improvements with Jacquelyn. I would have to say her favorite supplement is her MB12-lollipop, she licks it to the stick. Since this program Jacquelyn has been happier than ever. It is the best thing that could have happened to our family and I am so grateful Jacquelyn has had this opportunity. She is finally in the process of potty training and it is only a matter of time before she actually......

Hi everyone!I hope you are all doing well! I just wanted to share with you some more updates about my Jayden! Although Jayden is still a very picky eater and we have not heard any words yet, he is making amazing progress in many other areas!!Jayden tried 1 bite of a caramel apple breakfast bar. He picked it up on his own and just took a bite without anyone asking him to. :) Although he did take a bite, chew and swallow it, he hasn't taken another bite since. Maybe he just didn't like it? No biggie...at least he tried it!! He also tolerated two pieces of a strawberry breakfast bar in his mouth but did not chew and swallow....
