We spent the past couple of weekends in New Jersey with one our favorite local couples, Jacqueline and Chris Laurita. Most people may know them as cast members of hit shows on Bravo, like the Real Housewives of New Jersey or Manzo’d with Children. But to GR, we just know them as Jackie and Chris, two parents trying to do the best they can for their kiddos.
Their youngest, Nicholas, was diagnosed with autism just a few years ago. Since then, Jacqueline and Chris have been pioneers fostering hope for families affected by autism.
The Lauritas have continued to use their platform to spread awareness for autism, but this past month, they showed us all just how much this cause really means to them.
First, they hosted A Night of Hope at the Brownstone in New Jersey; a fundraiser to benefit Generation Rescue.
Jacqueline, as naturally a mommy warrior does, often takes the lead when sharing their family’s story.
“I went home, hugged my husband and cried until I couldn’t cry anymore. I cried for myself; I cried for my husband; I cried for my other kids, and I cried for my Nicholas,” she told Parenting Magazine of initially receiving her son’s diagnosis.
However, tears really began to flood everyone’s eyes when her husband, Chris, took the stage to share his perspective. We don’t often see our Warrior Dads tear-up, if ever. The love of a father for his son lit up the room, as he confirmed his dedication not just to Nick, but the cause in overall, wanting to help all families in need.
“This journey has completely changed our lives, and Jacqueline and I are committed to doing whatever we can,” Chris insisted. He continued to encourage everyone in the room to do their part in supporting families affected by autism.
Two weeks later, Chris and Jacqueline hosted a launch party for their new line of popcorn, The Little Kernel.
Not only was Generation Rescue invited to the event, but they placed the GR logo prominently on the event’s backdrop and gave a touching speech on what Generation Rescue means to their family.
We often see celebrities lending their name to a charity, but rarely do you see people with a genuine devotion to a cause that matters so much to them. Jacqueline and Chris are more than TV personalities that utilize their platform; they’re two parents standing up for a cause, fostering hope for many more families in need.
Their devotion inspired us and we hope it inspires you too. Give back to those in need, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it matters. We may not all have a large platform, but we can all do our part. Together, it makes a much larger impact to the community at large.
It doesn’t matter how big or how small, we can all #GiveBack.
