Two Chicago Originals – Jenny McCarthy & Giordano’s Famous Stuffed Pizza – Unite for a Great Cause. Jenny Celebrates Her Move Back to the Midwest by Teaming Up with Giordano’s to Support Her Autism Charity
There are few things that quickly come to mind when you think of Chicago: blues music, the Willis Tower, the city’s popular sports teams and perhaps, most notably, its deep-dish pizza. Over the past 35 years, Giordano’s has been an iconic part of the Chicago dining scene and widely celebrated for its delicious stuffed pizza. Their famous recipe – first created in Torino, Italy over 200 years ago – has become known by millions of Chicagoans, visitors and food critics alike as arguably the “best” in Chicago. And now, one well-known Chicagoan is getting in on the action to help support Giordano’s first stuffed dessert on the menu – actress, author and autism-advocate, Jenny McCarthy.
McCarthy, who recently moved back to her hometown of Chicago with her 10-year-old son Evan, is teaming up with family-focused Giordano’s to support a cause that’s personal to her, Generation Rescue.
Beginning September 15 through December 31, 2012, when pizza fans visit Giordano’s to enjoy their favorite stuffed pizza, they will also be in for a sweet deal by ordering “Jenny’s Favorite” Stuffed Apple Pie. Giordano’s will donate a portion of the proceeds of each apple dessert to McCarthy’s favorite cause which supports families nationwide that are affected by autism. The newly-introduced pie is available at any of the 40 Giordano’s restaurants located throughout Chicagoland for dine-in with Peterson’s vanilla ice cream for $9.95 or can be boxed up and taken home to enjoy with family and friends for $8.95.
“Throughout my Hollywood career, I’ve always been a Chicago girl at heart,” said McCarthy. “When I was craving a little taste of home, I would go online and ship Giordano’s stuffed pizzas all the way to Los Angeles. Now that I’m officially back in my hometown, I’m really excited to be teaming up with Giordano’s to support Generation Rescue and the many families that we serve.”
Jenny McCarthy was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She recently appeared on the cover of the July issue of Playboy Magazine, and hosted NBC’s Love in the Wild. Her next book, “Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic,” was published on October 2, 2012.
What’s Jenny’s favorite Giordano’s pizza variety? “That’s easy – stuffed sausage and onion. I just love it, it’s so good. I crave it all the time!” said McCarthy.
