Round 19 of our Rescue Family Grant Program has just begun and some of our grant recipients are already reporting significant progress. We are so happy that Chris’s family is now able to get some quality sleep.
I just wanted to share with all of you that my son started sleeping through the night without any sleep aids for the past two nights. I normally give him allergy medicine that makes him sleepy, even though his eczema is gone. The doctor said it was ok to give it to him as a precaution to keep his eczema at bay. My son also takes meds for adhd and it would keep him awake at night,(at least that’s what I thought it did) and he would eventually fall asleep and wake up at 3am and then again at 5am. I didn’t report it yesterday because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a fluke. Both days this weekend he had his adhd meds and went to bed around 10 pm. On Saturday night he went to bed on his own, he didn’t even want to do his bedtime ritual of me reading, tucking him in , and prayers. He just went straight to bed. He slept until 8:50am and it would have been longer if our dog hadn’t started barking to go outside. On Sunday night we did our whole bedtime ritual. He was closing his eyes as I read, fighting sleep. Before two days ago, he would fidget and stay awake for 45 minutes to an hour. This morning he slept until I woke him up, which is a wonderful feeling to know that this GFCF diet is working! That he is capable of sleeping on his own. I am truly grateful for Generation Rescue for helping me recover my twins. Sleep is such a precious thing that most of us take for granted.
