Essential Supplements - Step 6 of “The Wagner Way to Wellness”
Necessary for the Whole Family
As I have mentioned in my previous articles, Jenny wanted me to stress how important it is for all members of the entire family to be receiving their own essential daily nutrients. In order to handle the demands and stress that life bestows upon all of us and to have the keys necessary to run on with full steam, the daily basic essentials are mandatory.
If everyone would just try the basic daily essentials for a month they would see the difference. It doesn’t take long. Right is Right and Wrong is Wrong and taking your daily essentials is the Right thing to do to be at your best. And this goes for all of you!!!
Supplements – Why and Which Ones?
This is, by far, the most confusing subject for most people who attempt to create their own list of useful and necessary supplements. Often, well-meaning people use the shotgun approach to wellness, and buy countless bottles of supplements and additives, when actually, only a few bottles are absolutely necessary.
Some people take a lot of vitamins and some take none. Many people say why do we need them? Don’t we receive everything we need from our food? No we do not! Our soil is so depleted and has been since the early 1900’s that today’s foods can’t fill us with the rich nutrients – the premium grade fuel – that our bodies need for our 21st century lives.
Running On Empty
We are missing the catalysts to assimilate, absorb, utilize and to basically run on, so no wonder we feel like we’re running on empty most of the time! We are!
A car needs gas, oil, water, brake fluid and transmission fluid every second of every day. If anyone of these items is missing the car will not run properly. Our bodies also need the equivalent of our own gas, oil, water, brake fluid and transmission fluid every second of every day and most of us are not receiving all of this. If anyone of these essential necessities is missing we will malfunction, so most of us are running on empty.
If a car is on empty and you fill it up with gas it will start and run immediately. It doesn’t have to sit there and think about it, it runs. Once you fill you’re your body with the essential daily nutrients you also will run properly. You will light up like a neon light and really have something to work with.
The best idea is to be consistent, to never run out. If you keep your car full of gas it will always run, so if you keep your own tank full you will always have something to work with and will always keep running and never peter out.
When a car runs out of gas it stops and if you don’t refill it, you go nowhere. It comes to a complete stop. Likewise, if you don’t replenish your monthly supply of essential nutrients you will also crash. So the key is to not let your body run out. Be consistent and you will always be at your best.
Not a Lot
It doesn’t have to be lot of supplements; it just has to be the right supplements. Many people come in with shopping bags full of vitamins and minerals but they are missing the basics. Without the basics the other supplements are hard to assimilate. You just end up having expensive urine. With the basics you can now fully assimilate and utilize the other supplements and receive full value. But with the right essential supplements many times you don’t actually need the other supplements. Most of the time I fine in general circumstances the basic essentials will handle 90% of a person’s issues. You may only need a few extra supplements for those special issues.
Top of the Grocery List
These essential supplements should be at the top of everyone’s grocery list not the bottom. We tend to say, “Oh if we have some money left over then I will buy some vitamins”. No they should be thought of as food and be at the top of the grocery list, because without them nothing really works and with them everything works.
What Are the Essential Supplements?
What we need are ionic trace minerals & electrolytes, full spectrum enzymes, multi-strain probiotics and essential fatty acids, along with a good multi-vitamin and mineral complex in order to process food correctly, and to receive the necessary fuel to make our bodies fire on all cylinders. These supplements are the Keys to Life!
#1 Ionic Trace Minerals & Electrolytes
Electrolytes are the soluble minerals which are found in bodily fluids and the blood stream. They are lost through perspiration and other types of fluid loss and need constant replacement.
These electrolyte products contain the most powerful natural, health-giving, ionic trace minerals in the world, formulated by nature for greater bio-electric health and body mineral balancing. These natural, soluble, ionic trace minerals also nutritionally aid vitality and overall health.

#3 – Multi Strain Probiotic Complex with Probiotic Blend
Look for a multi-strain probiotic blend of 10 different strands of bacteria including Lactobacillus Acidophilus, the primary organism in the upper small intestines, and Bifidobacterium Bifidum, the dominant organism in the lower small intestines, large intestine and the human vagina. It should also include a Prebiotic Blend to naturally help promote the growth of healthy micro flora.
The probiotic complex should be lactose-free that helps maintain a balance of friendly bacteria that aids digestion, promotes proper elimination of waste and improves absorption of nutrients.
A good probiotic complex helps in the production of enzymes such as protease, which helps digest proteins and lipase to digest fat. It also assists in the production of B vitamins which are bio-catalysts in food digestion, particularly folic acid.

It has been shown to enhance calcium metabolism, reduce serum cholesterol levels and by virtue of its inhibiting gastrointestinal and uro-pathogens, it may also help reduce the occurrence of diarrhea, urinary and vaginal infections.
Probiotics have also been shown to aid in inhibiting pathogenic bacteria and organisms including Salmonella, Shigella, Clostridium, Bacillus Cereus, Staphylococcus Aurous and yeast such as Candida Albicans. It does this by increasing the acetic acid level, which creates the necessary conditions for the beneficial microbes to thrive, and creates unfavorable conditions for bad bacteria, inhibiting pathogenic flora by production of the natural antibiotics Acidophilin, Acidolin, and Lactolin. It also produces Lactic Acid which helps inhibit the growth of many bacteria. The inhibition of pathogens by Probiotics is attributed to the lowering of the pH values by the liberation of acids, resulting in anti-microbial action altering oxidation-reduction potential.
Multi-Strain Probiotics help decompose Nitrosamines (cancer causing substances) and can suppress the production of it in the intestines. It promotes proper bacteria balance, prohibits harmful bacteria from adhering to the lining of the intestines and creates macrophages. They are available in a powder or capsule form. #4 – Essential Fatty Acids (Omega’s 3-6-9)
Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are essential lipids, often referred to as Vitamin F or the “good fats,” that are not manufactured by the body and are vital for optimum health, well-being and 90% of your energy. As integral components of all cells, they maintain the fluidity and stability of cell membranes and protect the body from harmful substances such as bacteria and viruses. They must be obtained through diet or supplementation with EFA-rich food oils.
Without EFAs, deficiency symptoms will develop. Signs of EFA deficiency can include eczema and other skin disorders, hair loss, organ damage, impaired reproductive function, increased triglyceride and cholesterol levels, increased blood pressure and neurological dysfunction.
The World Health Organization suggests that 3-4% of the total daily caloric intake of normal adults should be in the form of these “good” EFAs. For children, pregnant and lactating women, the recommendation is 5-6%. A healthful EFA complex should provide a comprehensive well-balanced blend of EFA nutritional oils and supply your daily needs for EFAs in an ideal ratio of omega 3, 6 & 9 fatty acids with GLA, ALA, EPA, LA, OA and DHA.
They are available in a Softgel pearl, powder or liquid in a vegan or non-vegan form. If you choose a fish oil form, make sure it is molecularly distilled to guarantee it is free of PCBs, heavy metals, dioxins and any other possible toxic material.
