PLEYGO PARTNERS WITH GENERATION RESCUE FOR FIRST-EVER “LEGO® HOLIDAY BRICK DRIVE CAMPAIGN” TO BENEFIT FAMILIES WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS
Unique Donation Program Aims to “Build” Awareness and Funds for Autism, While Creating Opportunity for Therapeutic Play; Campaign Supported by Real Housewives of New Jersey Cast Member, Jacqueline Laurita.
New York, NY (November 13, 2013) – Just in time for holiday giving, Pleygo, the “Netflix-like” subscription service that allows families to rent LEGO® sets, has joined forces with Generation Rescue, a national non-profit organization providing immediate treatment assistance, information and hope to families affected by autism founded by Jenny McCarthy, to “build” much-needed awareness and funds through the world of LEGO.
The “Pleygo Holiday Brick Drive for Generation Rescue” beginning November 13th and running through January 2014, will collect LEGO bricks to stock Generation Rescue-affiliated medical facilities. In addition, the campaign will raise funds for ASD research through online donations and monetary proceeds collected from Pleygo sales and donations made during the campaign period. Pleygo and Generation Rescue will announce the total dollars raised as well as the the total weight of LEGO donations on December 14th, 2013.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Generation Rescue for the first ever Pleygo Holiday Brick Drive, “said Elina Furman, co-founder of Pleygo. “We are impressed by the work Generation Rescue has done towards funding Autism research and helping to improve the quality of life for children with ASD. Pleygo is proud to support Generation Rescue’s efforts and we hope that the annual Holiday Brick Drive becomes a long standing tradition that will bring much need resources and attention to this worthy cause.”
Inspired by the significant role that LEGO plays in the ASD community for enhancing play therapy and helping with social interaction and development, during the remainder of November and throughout December, Pleygo is encouraging families to join the drive by filling out the donation registration (LINK). Everyone who donates LEGO bricks will receive a one-month Pleygo Super Fan subscription (worth $25), which delivers small, medium and large LEGO sets to subscribers. The collected bricks will be fully sanitized and shipped to facilities in partnership with Generation Rescue for therapeutic play use for children.
In addition, Pleygo will provide the opportunity for families to set up school donation boxes to collect LEGO bricks. Pleygo will cover shipping for large scale donations
Pleygo is easy to join and simple to use. Members can log on to Pleygo.com and create a Wish List from the vast inventory of available sets. Pleygo ships parents the first set and once kids are done playing, parents send it back in the pre-paid box, and the next set will be on its way — all for a monthly price starting as low as $15. Pleygo makes it possible for kids of all ages to build LEGO creations without having to actually purchase them, saving hundreds of dollars per year in toys that are used and then often neglected. All Pleygo sets are guaranteed to come completely ready to play with all the pieces and full building instructions.
Every set is cleaned and sanitized between each use to ensure safety. Sets are ready to play and shipping is free so busy moms don’t have to worry. In a world with increasing video games, many educational toys are being pushed aside for tablets and electronics. LEGO sets continue to be one of the most popular toys among kids of all ages with 72 percent of families in the U.S. owning at least one set. LEGO has been proven to help children to develop their imagination, concentration and motor skills. To become a member or learn more about Pleygo, please visit http://www.pleygo.com.
