Summer Camp for ASD Adults Opening June 2012
Looking for an interactive, dynamic, and productive summer camp for teens and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs)? An Independent Me (AIM) is opening June 11, 2011 in Round Rock, Texas (just outside of Austin).
Professionally-trained staff will maintain a ratio of 3:1 (3 campers to 1 staff) to give each camper the best summer experience possible. Development plans will be created for each camper to determine their skills and desires and seek employment or community opportunities for them during their stay if their skill set allows.
An Independent Me (AIM) provides a safe and supportive environment for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Using scientifically validated techniques and curriculum, the camp will teach life skills, support educational opportunities, provide on-the-job-training and coaching, create meaningful jobs, and prepare campers for a step up to the next level of independence. Come fall, the camp will convert to a group home. Campers will have the option of staying on as residents.
Camp registration costs $400/week for day campers and $800/week for sleepover campers.
Sponsor-a-Camper! AIM is looking for sponsors to help support the cost of attending summer camp. Take a look at a few camper videos. Inspired? Donations are graciously accepted here.
