When Colin was diagnosed, the doctors gave us the feeling that there was no hope for our baby, since the interventions we have started he has made significant improvements. I want to share with parents that their is hope out their for their child. You need to stay positive. I also want people to know that recovery is possible. Many of the doctors we took Colin to said the diet and supplements would not work. Parents should be given all their options and make decisions on their own without a doctor who does not know anything about the interventions giving negative feedback on it. The doctors Colin first saw wanted us to give him mind altering drugs to calm him down. To me this was just a band aid solution for the present with no hope for getting him better for life down the road.

My son was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at age 3 and we recovered him from all his symptoms over the next 4 years. We also prevented my daughter's early indicators from developing further when we began her intervention at just 11 months of age. My son's diagnosis was formally removed this year. Both children are now attending gifted classes and are getting straight As in school, They are super smart, good, calm, healthy, happy, social and loving kids. Visit my Facebook page Off The Spectrum to read all about our story. www.Facebook.com/offthespectrum If you’d like to know which therapies worked for us, all our info is there for free. Our story is also included in Dr. McBride’s newest publication, stories of GAPS recovery http://www.gutandpsychologysyndrome.com/

In brief, we recommend that all families try the 3 main interventions which brought us the most healing
    1. The GAPS Diet
    2. EXTENSIVE ABA therapy
    3. DAN biomedical testing & EXTREMELY clean supplementation if needed.

Occupational therapy, speech therapy and physical therapy were also extremely helpful.

I believe that gut healing via the GAPS diet is responsible for 85% of my kids' recoveries. I have a BA in molecular biology and used my science background both to research possible therapies and to implement the closest thing to the scientific method possible in our home based recovery program. I tried hard to change only 1 thing at a time, (adding 1 new food, or 1 new supplement, or 1 new therapy) and seeing if it helped the kids at all. And I let their improvement guide the way.
I love any chance to get the word out that healing is possible and that dietary intervention and more specifically gut healing via the GAPS diet, can help end ALL autism symptoms completely no matter the age of the child.

    UPDATE 3/2015
My son was diagnosed at 2 1/2 with Autism. We have been doing biomedical since then, and it has been quite a journey! He will be 9 in April, and I'm happy to say that he is a different kid today because of what we have done! We are getting close to being able to call him recovered! He is really in a good place, and just continues to get better. All this hard work is paying off. This boy is living proof that you can in fact change the course of Autism. He went from a non verbal, stimmy, sick little boy who was lost in his own little world, to a thriving, healthy, funny, talkative young man. He attends a regular class room and has an aid only when needed. We continue speech and OT, and will begin RDI therapy soon to address social struggles. He continues to make improvements each and every day. He continues to grow, and we are constantly getting amazing positive updates from school.
This beautiful boy has taught us so much. And we have learned so much through our experiences with biomedical, diet, and therapies. We want to share our knowledge and experiences with other parents so that they can help their children too.

In a similar fashion to others advocating for children diagnosed with autism we want other parents to have a choice and understand their options for treating their child. We believe strongly in the above mentioned therapies for recovery and the harmful effects of current vaccinations.

I have felt the pain of losing my child quickly after a vaccination and I spent two years doing research every day. I have never spent one minute not wanting to talk to other parents about how much there is that you can do for your child. I think I was given my special little boy so that I can help others find their way as well.

We began biomedical treatments in December of 2005. As I write this in January of 2015, my son is a 14 year old boy who is recovered, however we continue to look at areas to help his environmental allergies that continue to plague him. It was an overwhelming path to take and I have my name here to offer help to others who are venturing down this road. I had a friend begin similar treatments with her daughter at the same time, and I was so very thankful to have that 1 person in my life who understood what our family was going through.

I also want to add that I was since diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease. I will be looking into whether or not I passed Lyme Disease on to my son. There is a connection between Lyme Disease and ASD.

As well, we homeschooled our son.

I am recovering my 7 year old son. The introduction of biomedical treatments has changed our lives completely. He's no longer in pain, focusing, learning and a lovable little man. My experiences with treatments, managing symptoms and navigating the world of services and supports may be able to help you start on the right path!
