Recovering a child from autism using biomedical approaches is a slow and steady climb. My husband and I are committed to helping others as they climb.

I am the single mother of three kids, an 18 y/o boy, a 16 y/o girl, and a 10 y/o boy diagnosed with Asperger's. He was originally diagnosed with autism when he was 4 1/2; but he lost that diagnosis last year when he was re-evaluated by the original diagnosing doctor and was instead determined to be Asperger's. He went from non-verbal to chatty thanks to biomedical interventions and ABA. His doc says if we keep up the good work he will son be off the spectrum completely. I agree. The only issues we are currently dealing with are sensory related. We are working on those issues and I am confident we will be successful!!

Our son had a significant behavior change after his 4 month vaccines. He went from an engaged, babbling baby to a silent, distant one in a matter of weeks. We continued to vaccinate him and he was diagnosed just before his 2nd birthday, with no words and little social engagement (though he was a happy toddler.) We started DAN! treatment at 24 months, ABA at 25 and tried everything reasonable that we could. mHBOT and IV Chelation at 3.5 were BIG for him. He is 9 now and in a typical classroom with minimal support. While we still see his behaviors of autism underlying daily, they don't rule his world. His friends think he's silly and funny but don't know of his diagnosis. We still continue to do biomedical treatment and pray that he will continue to make great gains, get healthier and have a wonderful life! I still pray for the loss of a diagnosis and full recovery but honestly just want him to have friends, be able to be as independent as possible and have a full and happy life!

I did not have any help with biomedical when my child was first diagnosed. Of all the therapies biomedical has helped more than any. My child is not recovered, but well on his way. We saw Dr. Jepson at Thoughtful House and made great strides. I regret not starting biomedical sooner. We as a community need to help each other out as much as possible. Autism can be so isolating at times. I would love to help families along their road to recovery.

I am a mom, advocate, allergen free baker, friend and supporter. I am proud of the progress my child has made since his diagnosis, and we aren't done yet. Through hard work and the help of some amazing therapists and doctors my child has gone from a non-verbal, non-social 4 year old to a funny, chatty 10 year old who has friends, plays baseball and enjoys many activities with the family. We are still working on a number of areas, but his food intolerances are greatly reduced these days, and his progress is just a joy to behold.
