5 Tips for Surviving Holiday Dinners

The holidays always have a way of getting the best of us. It’s usually the treats we allow our temptations to feed into. It always starts out as a great idea, but then… the crash. So how do we avoid these pitfalls and come out of the holidays healthy, trim and fit? Dr. Bo Wagner has you covered with 5 simple tips for the every day warrior looking to survive those heavy holiday dinners:

Tip 1: Dink Lots of Water

First and foremost throughout the holidays drink lots of water. It keeps you from getting hungry, flushes out any poisons or toxins you may consume and rids the body of unwanted fatty deposits. The more water you drink, the faster and better your results.

Tip 2: Load Up on the Protein

Second eat lots of lean protein or drink protein shakes. You burn fat to digest protein, which helps to keep you thin and trim but also very full. It is always a good idea to eat before you go to a party so the temptations will be minimized. Use Stevia as often as you need to, to handle any sugar cravings.

Tip 3: Bring Some Snack Packs

Also be prepared and take some snack bags of nuts and seeds or some fruit with you or have some close at hand, so if the party’s food selections are poor you will have something to munch on. Otherwise you will see others eating, loose control and reach for just about anything.

Tip 4: Avoid the Bloat with the Smart Food Combining

Plus the rules of proper food combining and proper food selection, according to your blood type, are still in effect. So try to be selective and choose foods that are correct for your type and combine them correctly. This way you won’t get the acid reflexes, mucus and congestion, gas and bloat or those extra holiday pounds. Your body will digest the foods properly and you will feel the better for it.

Remember you always eat fruit alone. So you can eat fruit but eat it first, wait 1 hour then you can consume the other foods without upset. Then remember to eat vegetables with either a protein or a starch but not together. So when you arrive at the parties observe what they are offering and choose to go the protein or starch route but do not eat them together. This is our biggest and worst mistake and the root of all our ills and upsets. If you are at several parties in a day, say one in the afternoon and one in the evening, if you wait 4-5 hours in-between eating, then you could have protein at one meal and starch at another.

Tip 5: When Temptation Gets the Best of You… Have Some Grapefruit!

If you do over indulge, a good idea is to do a day or two of a grapefruit fast. Eat only grapefruit for breakfast, lunch and dinner and drink lots of water. This will flush out the poison and toxins, fat deposits and lymphatic waste you have acquired and will help trim you right back up.

So Happy Holidays, have lots of fun and Best Wishes for the New Year.

To Your Good Health,

Dr. Bo
