Generation Rescue board member and celebrity ambassador, Donnie Wahlberg, celebrated his 47th birthday recently. To honor him, Laurina from San Francisco, CA (a huge New Kids on the Block fan) rallied together fellow “Blockheads” to surprise Donnie by raising money for Generation Rescue.
She set a goal: $2,500 (the value of a Rescue Family Grant from Generation Rescue, giving low-income families access to medical treatment).
She set up a donation page on Classy.
She used her social media platforms to rally together peers.
With the power of Twitter and some #BHLove, fans from all around the world began visiting her page and pledging donations to help families affected by autism.
Seven weeks later, they reached above the original goal, raising $3,310!
❤️ HAPPY BDAY @DonnieWahlberg!!BH’s worldwide came together to do something special for you! https://t.co/a1oxrMFeDv#HappyBirthdayDonnie
