We recently chatted with Dr. Will Cole on the GR Facebook page to break down the ketogenic diet and help our community transition from a gluten-free, casein-free diet. One of the hot topics covered in our Q&A was how to get picky eaters to go keto! Luckily, Dr. Cole understands that struggle all too well with his own son!
“My son is extremely picky,” Dr. Cole explained. “I know it’s not simple. It’s not easy.” But have no fear because he had some pretty simple and practical advice to share: Lead by example.
“Ultimately, if they’re kids, they’re not grocery shopping!”
We know that when going GF/CF, it’s always best to have the whole family transition to this new lifestyle. Not only does it make life easier, but it’s a healthy shift for everyone! Eventually, your palette changes and the foods you were once accustomed to are no longer of much interest. Especially with all the tasty alternatives on the market today!
“For the most part, as parents, you’re the ones buying the food,” Dr. Cole continued. “So, it may be a transition period, where, you know, it’s like, ‘this isn’t the way we used to do things!’ But the more you are consistent and lead by example, they’ll start saying, ‘wow this is the new normal.'”
Dr. Will Cole has more tips on his site with lots of healthy recipes to help you navigate your transition.
